Mud

There’s a great movie called Mud about a mysterious character set on the Mississippi River. Mud was played by Matthew McConaughey…the character a rough around the edges country boy grown up and living a dangerous adventure. Sounds familiar to those of us who watched Brett Favre play football in the 1990’s and 2000’s.

To grow up a Packer fan through the entire Favre era was a blessed existence. Yes, he was an all-time great. More than that, though, he was our guy. There was never a doubt that he had given his team and the fans everything he had when each Sunday came to a close. And no one had more fun playing the game.

Three straight MVPs from 1995-1997 and a Super Bowl victory in the 1996 season put the Packers back on the map for good after decades in the wilderness. As someone who’s nostalgic about sports, I see Favre as a bygone character in sports that we’ll never see again. What moments from his career stick out to you?
